Riding for Fun

As I mentioned yesterday it’s time to have a spot of R&R after the hectic Tour de France, and I’m not the only one:

It’s always nice to see the pros actually enjoying being on a bike and realising that they’re not that different from anyone who rides for fun (setting aside salaries and power output and everything).

Before we totally leave the Tour, and as a neat introduction to the weekend of Downhill action, you may be aware that this happened:

I imagine opinion will be split on this as people debate the consequences of it having gone wrong and whether it should be attempted at all given the profile of the race and with there already being some questions asked over the behaviour of fans at the roadside. Make up your own mind about the spectacle.

I’m not here tomorrow as I’m off to get some riding in the dust this weekend. Inevitably that means more exciting/irritating ride reports for you next week. If you are also out in the countryside (at least bits of the countryside near an Evans shop) look out for abandoned gloves in the bushes
