Anticipation

After all the excitement of three weeks of Tour action, we’re in a slight lull between major races. That’s not to say that people aren’t already looking forward to next year and wondering if there could be a Sky team featuring their two Tour winners. It can’t really be argued that Froome would have benefitted from the support that a rider like Wiggins could have given in the stages where he looked isolated so it would be interesting to see whether that could happen. In the meantime Wiggins is apparently back to fitness and targeting the Tour of Poland, Tour of Britain and World TT Championships.

On the note of Championships, the British Downhill Champs went down last weekend (while we were distracted by some race in France). The Athertons dominated again, demonstrating the form that both Gee and Rachel are carrying in the early season. It bodes well for the next World Cup round at Vallnord in Austria this weekend.

It wasn't all their own way as veteran racer, Steve Peat, ran Gee close at the top of the run, only falling behind thanks to a crash.
