It’s always good to see a good letter to the editor in an obscure American newspaper that utterly misses the point on where the entire world seems to be moving in terms of bike use.
Here is an excellent example of just such a letter where the answer appears to be to ban bikes from the roads in rush hour. A superbly thought through argument, I’m sure you’ll agree. Perhaps we just live in a bubble of cycling feeling in the UK and have forgotten that people just don’t understand.
Just as disturbing (and American as well) are the revelations from Tyler Hamilton’s book about his (but mainly Lance Armstrong’s) career as a doping cyclist. The reviews are coming in and they seem to suggest he’s a fairly arrogant guy who still thinks he was justified on one level in doping to compete with the peloton. However it sounds like it reads like a thriller with its insights into the murky and intricate world of doping and beating the authorities. It’s one of those books I think I want to read, although I may find it depressing in the extreme.
