Bike Kitchen

As a really rough rule cyclists could be fitted into two broad categories. There are those who ride bikes from some wish to save the planet, or as a viable transport alternative, and those who do it just for fun.

In amongst those riding with an ulterior motive you may well find an elevated number of cargo bikes, being used to carry everything that most other people like to use something with an engine for. None of them are quite as brave, perhaps, as the guy recently seen by the Mirror carrying a fridge on the back of a normal bike. I don’t know whether to applaud the effort or just be amazed that he managed to get anywhere with it.

It was a good thing, at the least, that he was making the trip in good weather. Had it been raining he might have needed something like this inflatable roof for a bike, although I’m not sure it would have helped to keep the fridge dry as well.

If riding and carrying your white goods is just a little bit too crazy fro you, don’t worry – you can still contribute in other ways. Perhaps you might like to use a bicycle-powered water purification pump. Actually if you combine them all with a dynamo you might not be too far off a working mobile bicycle-kitchen.
