Cycling Back into the News

Yesterday I covered the somewhat practical side of cycling. Today it’s all about fun again. The news is full of cyclists again with the Track World Cup at Manchester last weekend, where Britain managed what seems to be a reasonably good performance, while always setting it against the level of success that the team expects. The news has been somewhat overshadowed by the Malaysian rider, Awang, managing to stick a large piece of the track through his leg.

In other news of pain and breaking, there are reports that a third of Boris Bikes have needed some repair in the first six months, which hardly seems all that surprising.

Also in the news, Danny MacAskill has been literally everywhere I look this week. Doing promotion for his “MacAskill Conquers” film he has been talking to newspapers in Scotland about how much he earns and doing the rounds of the nationals, in some cases helping journalists to look a little clueless on a bike, as he looks effortless. Have a look here at the Guardian’s take, with a video that won’t embed, and below for the Telegraph’s look, including a trip through an office which definitely makes me think about the possibilities in my own workplace.
