In the spirit of the late, great Roy Castle, FMFT love a good World Record. In fact we’re in the process of trying to break the record for the longest amount of time spent not trying to break any World Records at all by anyone who is old enough to have watched Record Breakers. We may well update you on our progress as soon as there’s any change to our status of not breaking records, although we may have failed already with our attempt at a record breaking run in this way. Damn.
We also enjoy saving money on expensive bike parts, such as front tyres. As you can imagine, tremendous excitement rippled across the FMFT office when we came across this record attempt which combines saving wear and tear on front end components, with a genuine record attempt.
The BBC used it’s far reaching powers to beat us to the scoop, simply by being able to make it to Yorkshire. They have a thorough report of the attempt on their website.
It’s good to note that Aaron has shunned technical clothing in favour of a proper teenager’s outfit of jeans and a hoodie. This probably gives a glimpse into the world of his intense training, wheelieing through shopping centres with a group of other teenagers. He is, however, embracing the sports psychology behind music and achievement, although will probably regret sharing his love of Linkin Park with the world when he’s older.
Interestingly he achieved a distance of 8 miles, perfect for our four mile commute. A wheelie there and back and we’d be well on the way to equalling his record, although we’ll have to find a way to factor in waiting at traffic lights and avoiding the police. Now, just to nail that wheelie…
