Last week the internet was abuzz with news of a cyclist racing the Tube over a number of journeys in central London. Now, avoiding the obvious fact that we did this first with our famous race against the bus, it’s very interesting. As you might expect, the bike was quicker over the journeys that were chosen. The full details of the experiment are here, and it shows that the predicted times that TfL comes up with are not entirely accurate. Perhaps it’s not surprising that they suggest that the tube is faster as I guess that there’s a chance that money goes to TfL from the tube fares...
The streets might be a dangerous place to be riding, and it’s always good to know that there are police, occasionally, on bikes to protect everyone. For some bizarre reason an Italian design company has decided that the usual bikes they’ve been using, made by well established bike companies, are not good enough for the boys in blue. There are some new designs on this website, although they seem a little over the top and over designed, when a basic bike would do everything that the police need.
Finally for this Monday morning I came across a riders-eye view of the Red Bull Favela Downhill we mentioned previously. We love a good Red Bull event here at FMFT and this shows just how tight this downhill was.
