Commuting Obstacles Number (um I forget)

I used to put together an occasional series on here called “commuting obstacles” but there were never really enough to make it regular. However, on Monday morning there was drama on my way to work as the road was closed thanks to a fire under a pavement on Caledonian Road.

Another person having a tough commute was Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who appears not to have heard the mountain biking rule of not blindly riding into a puddle you can't seethe bottom of.

Getting to work could be no less stressful. Tri UK were at the London Bike Show at the weekend, but had two lorries full of top-end bikes stolen from their hotel carpark. Apparently the Police were able to track one of the trucks for a bit, but then lost it, which seems a natural place to make a joke about the effort they put in to recovering stolen bikes. Many of the bikes are the only of their kind in the UK so selling them on should be hard. Let's hope the £100,000 reward on offer for information will help the shop get them back.

While all this is going on it seems appropriate to end with news of a positive nature. Perhaps about a bike track being built on a former dumping ground. That feels better.
