That should be it, surely. The Audi driver was in the wrong and there was a confrontation about it. The passenger had no right to make it a physical confrontation and I hope the cyclist does contact the police as the article suggests he should.
However, this is the Mail, so the comments are a tirade of defense for the guy in the car and an attack on cyclists. Any pro-cycling comments are firmly in the low-rated category as Mail readers sit at their computers hidden away from the real world and rant away at anything that they perceive as inconveniencing them in anyway without bothering to check any real facts. Expect the usual comments including cyclists running red lights or riding on pavements, “road tax”, and “cyclists think they’re above the law”. The fact is that while the cyclist did act to point out that the car was in the wrong it’s hard to see that that warrants aggressive behaviour such as the response, and let’s all bear in mind that a car is a huge lump of metal with the potential to do more damage than a bike, and therefore drivers (and their passengers) have a greater responsibility to act reasonably on the roads.
