Targeted

First up there’s more of that whole Police and cyclists story with confirmation that, in at least one area, officers have been targeted with giving 10 tickets to cyclists a month. If this continues it does seem a little like targeting the wrong people. As I’ve said before cyclists should definitely stick to the laws of the road and should be punished if they don’t, but this really seems to make London a less attractive place to cycle, if people feel actively targeted as well as being likely to be killed. The last thing anyone wants is to discourage cycling on the streets.

Elsewhere there was news of a pretty massive theft of what could constitute all the equipment to set up your own road race team. If you get offered any one of 110 horribly coloured bikes, or a car with “Lampre-Merida” all over it, then think twice and report it to the police. The bikes are high-end in spite of the very “euro” paintjob and it’s horrible to hear of theft on such a grand scale, and, as Singletrack says, it has an impact on the whole industry.

So a lot of bad news, and it seems nice to go into the weekend with a fillum (especially when that’s what I’ve been doing every day):

Oh, and obviously this one as well:
