While we're on the subject of famous British cyclists, they don't come much bigger than Bradley Wiggins. There was uproar in the forums (that seems like something internet people say) over the story that one of the bikes he used to in the Tour de France had been won in a prize draw by someone who was then proposing to sell it on
I mean what do you expect anyone to do with it. Ride it forever knowing that they would be far from the best athlete to sit on it and laughed at for not living up to the heritage? Put it on the wall where a grand total of however many people actually visit can enjoy it? Worry about it being stolen? Crash it in a horrible commuting accident? Quite frankly I think selling it on is the best solution for anyone, especially if it means a bit of extra cash for the guy in question. Yes cycling heritage is important, but not as much as making your own experiences and stories on your own bikes.
