Kicking It Off

You can’t help but have heard of Kickstarter. If somehow you haven’t it’s that place that dropped music recording artists and authors get to crowd-source funding for the next project that they want to pursue, despite not finding anyone to pay them for it.

It’s where one Amanda Palmer made several times her target to write a new album, proving that having fanatical fans is more important than any project, if you can get people to buy into the cult of you.

Bikes are all over the site, both here and in the US as you can see with a quick search. and some of the projects are a way to get to go on holiday or ride somewhere while other people pay, in a way that bloggers better than me deal with in a far more articulate way.

However, there are first-time projects that do deserve funding and they make the money they need and more. This blog is well worth a read and has some very sensible ideas for those real schemes that deserve to get off the ground, showing that with the right approach and the right product you can smash through your target and get to produce, in this case a book, that people want to read.

I mean I guess it does also help to be a recognised industry figure in the first place.
