I get it. They’re good in the snow, and it’s got pretty flipping cold again (what’s that all about, by the way?) but why are we suddenly hearing about them all over the place. I’m fairly sure they’re not a new thing are they? They certainly haven’t only appeared this year. Haven’t you been able to buy a Surly version for years? So why are they the new bike thing to appear everywhere?
Are we already bored of debating 26 vs 29 vs 650 whatsit wheels? Did we need a new thing to be excited about? Or is it just possibly that it’s been so cold for so long that we’re preparing for a new ice age where the only mountain biking we will ever do will be on the snow.
Look, now you've even got me at it. I’ll stop now.
Can I just check something with you as well? You know last week? Was that Spring? Is it over? Did we not even get a Summer? I really can’t handle any more of this winter cold cutting completely through me as I ride to and from work.
