Getting There Fast

You might have noticed that there’s a film about bikes that’s out on DVD (or video? Is video as cool as vinyl yet?) or on various digital streaming channels. It’s called Premium Rush and is all about bike couriers and features that boy from that Third Rock from the Sun thing.

If you order it you can, apparently, get it rushed to you by a rider who clearly hasn’t understood the whole point of getting there quickly, and will decide to mess around hopping on bollards rather than getting there fast. In this case I would argue that more skills are less useful.

In news from people who genuinely focus on getting from one place to another as fast as possible, Chris Froome was leading the Tirreno yesterday into a brutal stage with sharp climbs and weather that saw a whole raft of big names retire. He lost the lead to Nibali but is only 34 seconds adrift.
