Show and Tell

Trade shows are a standard part of the bike year, where new products are demoed and everyone gets to hang out. I have even been to a few both as a member of the public and for various jobs. Usually it seems to be a nice mix of industry insiders, both the press and manufacturers with a good atmosphere, and then you hear a story like this.

Somehow that seems to go against the whole idea of the show, especially at one aimed squarely at the smaller companies. I hope that as the bike industry grows and cycling becomes more mainstream that it doesn’t head in this direction.

In happier news I am entirely sure that you have been wanting a neat map to show the percentages of people in every part of the country who use bikes to commute?

Luckily I have just what you need in the form of another excellent bit of data journalism from the Guardian.

Now get back out there into a week that seems to be unusually full of pedestrians who don’t bother to look, drivers who don’t either and even cyclists who seem to be unable to avoid riding into my back wheel.
