You can ride a bike, right, and it’s easy?
Well I’ve heard before that in fact the whole process is remarkably complicated to the point of scientists being unsure exactly how we do it. This article highlights some of the research and also shows the fascinating study involving a patient with Parkinsons who struggles to walk and yet can ride a bike perfectly. It’s incredible.
Elsewhere I’m gathering a fascination for the big crashes in mountain biking, and just how far you can push a human body without it giving out. Here’s Cam MaCaul going badly wrong:
On that note I always have a fear that the idea of a bamboo bike is setting yourself up for a major fail at some point. But it seems not, and you can, in fact, even make your own. This appeals to me as someone who has no real mechanical ability but I feel I could handle bamboo while metal scares me and is a magical mystery.
Perhaps also fewer bamboo bikes are stolen, leaving you less like to end up like this guy.
Finally. Canadians eh? All this in 24 hours.
