Crime Doesn't Pay

Not for the first time the technology around bikes caught my eye in my usual epic trawl of the entire Internet in order to bring you the best news. (You will probably be aware that I am making it more dramatic than it really is). The first thing that made me pause was a solution for all of you who really want to carry a track pump, but find the courier-style slinging it over the back of a bag look a bit, perhaps, pretentious (another disclaimer: I’m no expert on courier style, but I once saw one carrying a pump like this and now assume it’s a “thing”).

The solution is this neat idea that means your seatpost can double as a pump. Straight away I can’t help thinking of the faff that you’ll have getting your saddle height spot-on again, but I tend to be quite high maintenance in that area.

Then there was a brilliant story of bungled burglary. Everyone loves a comedy moment which can transform criminals from the thing of nightmares to figures of fun. In London’s Portobello road a new bike shop is due to open and was targeted by thieves, making off with several electric bikes. However, brilliantly it turns out they not only neglected to take the chargers but that some of the bikes will be automatically locked after 50KM as they aren’t registered. So if you get offered an electric bike with a flat battery that won’t move anyway then treat it with some suspicion. Even if they tell you you can get a charger form B&Q or something.

So there we are, failed criminals and an amusing pumping post. It’s like this blog should be a late-night clip show on Channel 4.

Oh and before I go, it also looks like Cavendish has a get out of jail (or Sky Procycling) free card and can look for a new team.
