Big Mountain Style

Rampage was just as amazing as expected, although there is a weird desensitising effect from seeing the size of the moves pulled over and over again. It needs a step back to remind yourself that these are guys riding off huge cliffs off the side of a mountain and being scored not on staying alive, but on the style they do it with.

Anyway Kurt Sorge took the win this year, hitting the pinnacle of style, a huge line and tricks. The course also broke two of 2010’s podium finishers before the final, with both Gee Atherton and Cam Zink out and injured.

Here’s how Sorge prepared his lines

I imagine there will be highlights available soon if you missed last night’s live stream. For now here's the winning run:

The other news was over the results of the FMB World series. By the finals only everyone's favourite Swede Martin Soderstrom and Canadian Brendon Semenuk could take the overall title. Semenuk put in a disappointing performance given his freeride background compared with Soderstrom's talent on big dirt jumps, but he still managed to score reasonably and take the title. Soderstrom added insult to injury as he got the news in jeans that had been destroyed in a final run crash.

Some of the best pictures I've seen so far are here at Bike Magazine.
