Yesterday was another dramatic Tour de France day as Wiggins (and indeed Froome) smashed around the TT course to extend his lead over Evans to a very decent 1’ 53”.
While TTs don’t offer the same thrills as the road stages, they certainly add a bit of flat-out drama and as Brits we’re totally hard-coded to like those stages as British riders have traditionally done well in them, from Boardman to Wiggins via Millar, giving us those previous tastes of yellow jersey glory.
So a Tour with lots of time-trial miles seems good for Wiggins and you just start to believe in it don’t you? But then there was that tennis-er who got so close at the weekend and you all thought he could do it, didn’t you…?
It’s a thrilling Tour de France anyway and I seem to spend every day in a state of nervous excitement.
