Blackfriars

You can’t help to see the news reports of people killed and injured on the streets of London in horrible traffic accidents. In light of these the London Cycling Campaign have some ideas for redesigning one of the most notorious junctions in the capital.

The plan that they have puts pedestrians and cyclists over cars and surely could show a style of town planning that will become more and more popular as cycling grows.

To back it all up there have also been a number of flashrides at the same junction to highlight the issue. I guess it makes the point, but I’ve never been sure about disrupting traffic to make a cycling point. What we want is to be on the roads as equals and being an inconvenience risks just alienating the drivers who maybe should be encouraged t work with cyclists.
