A mix of things today as London remains in a certain amount of chaos.
To start there BikeBiz has a report on some of the bike shops that were attacked on Monday night, including some chain stores, but also the independent Micycle in Islington.
In lighter news, and to distract from the mess, Downhill nice-guy and ex world champion, Steve Peat, is swapping his bike for a more sedate sport in support of a local hospital in Sheffield, while in Bristol and Manchester Red Bull are hosting something a bit more extreme in September.
Finally for something a bit more deep-thinking, and a balance to my comments yesterday on the mobility and freedom that bikes have given some of the rioters in London, don’t forget that in many places and at many times, bikes have been an emancipating force for good, including in Zimbabwe as this story from the Guardian shows.
