In typical style we were focussed on the potential end of the world at the weekend and forgot about the big cycling events at the same time.
So, in case you missed it, the slightly less exciting branch of the mountain bike world cup was taking place in Dalby Forest. That might be slightly unfair on the cross country scene, which is hardly any less dramatic at times, but I guess it misses the air-time and extreme nature of the downhill event. If it all inspires you to experience your own top-flight cross country mountain bike course make sure the one you’re trying isn’t the Olympic course in Essex. You will apparently get arrested, purely for your own safety, the police are going to great lengths to stress.
