Do It Yourself

Bikes seem to attract all sorts of design solutions. Sometimes these designs are excellent as in the case of the Boris Bikes which are nominated for an award for their practical and stylish looks, which have already made them something of a London icon.

Less celebrated, perhaps, people are never totally satisfied with what they can buy off the peg, and like to create their own bikes to either save money or simply to suit their needs exactly. It seems this is just as true for electrically assisted bikes as it is for normal bikes, and people are coming up with any number of different ways to fit an engine to their bikes. Some good-looking and some, er, less-so.

Finally, it seems that occasionally there are designers who just cant decide which wheeled transport to use, and so come up with a hybrid that tries to cover all the bases.
