Riding Home for Christmas

As the continued bad weather makes people consider alternative ways to get home for Christmas maybe an option is to ride a bike home, much like this lady from New Zealand. She has been riding from London back to her homeland across some of the arguably most dangerous areas of the world for adventure, or maybe just to simply save the airfare.

This might be an extreme way of getting home, and possibly not all that useful if you happen to be aiming for somewhere far away, given the limited number of days before Christmas. If you do consider it the snow may continue to be a problem and you might like to look at using an electric mountain bike to make the trip (provided you do it in 40km chunks with regular recharging points). Loath as I am to recommend bikes to cheat like this, I did think that these Stealth bikes from Australia look pretty good. They do offer the chance to effectively make everywhere you ride into a downhill run, and that will really appeal to some people. Although you could just get a motorbike, I suppose.

To finish with some good news, it seems that the Police are driving the bike thieves out of Brick Lane market (although they may just be moving somewhere else). Maybe the chances of your new Christmas present being stolen are marginally reduced at last.
