It would appear that there’s only one thing anyone’s writing about at the moment, so FMFT are not going to be any different.
We can confirm that it has snowed. Quite a lot, in fact. So much that not far from FMFT headquarters a queue of five busses came to a halt and blocked the road as over three inches of snow in as many hours made the road impassable to all but those who usually get ridiculed for owning 4x4s in London.
A couple of days later the snow remains, frozen in places and showing no real sign of melting, apart from on the main roads where the passage of traffic has cleared the way. So the big question this morning is not whether to ride, despite the suggestions of friends and family that the bus is a good idea, but which bike to use. I’m leaning towards the one with slick tyres as the roads on my route will be mostly clear, although the mountain bike might be better for the small sections that will still be snow-covered. This might be just through laziness as the bracket for my light is still attached to the slick-shod one.
Either way I know I’m in for a wet ride from al the melt-water and I will be wishing, half way to work, that the snow was thick everywhere, with no cars to turn it into a freezing slushy mess, but instead a crisp even white landscape to crunch across.
Keep an eye on here for exciting winter commuting updates.
