At the end of last week the Olympic Cross Country Mountain Bike course was revealed to eager journalists. It was the first real time to see if the famed mountains of the Thames flood plain in Essex could offer any sort of a challenge. While we were clearly not invited (apparently we’re not on the 2012 organisers’ radar just yet) the general reaction from people who know what they’re talking about was positive. So, with only the best part of two years to go, the anticipation is building.
What Essex is lacking you can find elsewhere in Europe. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that our tickets for the London screening of Life Cycles would include a screening of another mountain bike film called Vast. Having checked out the trailer we can safely say we’re looking forward to the evening even more.
While big riding off big mountains is hugely exciting to us we realise it’s not up everyone’s street, so for balance how about the news that famous vampire actor Robert Pattinson has gone and bought himself a bike. Exciting huh? What’s intriguing us is not that he spent $1000 (that seems pretty standard) but that he decided he wanted a cyclocross bike. I guess you can look out for him churning round a muddy field and carrying his new Felt over barriers sometime soon, right?
