The thing with riding in London is that you’re never too far form a shop if something goes wrong. Just in case you were in any doubt about where to find the nearest one (and if the repair is beyond what you have on you in terms of spares or experience) then there’s a new iPhone app that can help you out. It’ll be useful, although I guess your chances of finding a large chain store rather than an independent bike shop are pretty high given the dominance of Evans and Cycle Surgery stores in the capital.
If you like your riding with convenient facilities, and however strong the draw of the wilds is there’s always something about having fun in a tail centre that makes you go a bit bigger than you might have if you were 40miles from anywhere. Let’s hope that the recently released plans to reorganise the Forestry Commission don’t take away too many of the excellent riding centres that have developed in the last few years.
