Glamour and the Games

The life of a bike blogger is a whole lot less glamorous than you might think. It might surprise you to learn that it’s not all parties, girls, drinking and hanging out on a bike. A lot of the time it’s grinding to work and back in the half dark into a headwind, while wishing there was something interesting going on in the news. At times it even resorts to wondering if I should write about people failing to cut the spare cable off their brakes.

In this drab life I have absolutely no idea why this video caught my attention.

Episode 4 - Afan Girls from Skyline Cycles on Vimeo.

Yet another reason to go back to Afan – as if we needed one!

Otherwise the cycling happenings are all about the Commonwealth Games where the home nations seem to be somewhat crippled by having to compete in teams from different islands, leaving Cavendish, for example, with a team drawn form the Isle of Man. Surprisingly enough Australia are doing far better, helped by being able to compete together, possibly. Still, we’ve won the odd medal and still manage to be a bit of a force in world cycling.

Watch it all on the BBC Sport website.
