South West Tour, Monotony, and Organised Nudity

Tomorrow the Tour of Britain heads into FMFT’s historical homeland of the South West. The stage from Minehead (home of Butlins) to Teignmouth (home of Muse) shows at least a slight journey into better taste, as well as covering some of the areas where FMFT cut mountain biking teeth. It should be a stage of evil climbs and some amazing scenery, well worth a watch on telly, or a trip to stand on another rainy hilltop and watch wet cyclists zip past. Feel free to combine it with a trip to see the delights of Exeter and be sure to visit the underground passages. No trip to the Devon is complete without a visit, and it’ll be dry at least.

In actual fact, for all you die-hard FMFT fans this could be something of a pilgrimage. Exeter was in fact the city responsible for bringing the founding members of this blog together. I imagine there’ll be a plaque somewhere to commemorate that fact.

Talking of trips away, FMFT have been playing with the extra features on Google Latitude. Turn on the location history (having first got it to run on your mobile phone) and you can watch your life replay in front of you after a while. You can marvel at the way it works out where you live and work, and at just how boring and repetitive your average week actually is as you endlessly plough to and from work and to the same pubs and shops. If nothing else persuades you to mix up your commute, than this will, making you try to get different patterns on the replays and feel a touch more exciting, either that or it’s the last push you need to head out for that fun ride you’ve been putting off for a bit. Latitude is definitely FMFT approved, not least because an iPhone can’t handle it properly at the moment and that makes it something to finally hit back at the Apple fans.

Perhaps this is a time to mention an FMFT correction and clarification. It has been pointed out that the true inventors of the World Champs drinking game were, in fact not the members of FMFT, but their girlfriends. Which means I can blame them entirely for my hangover last week.

Finally today if you’ve ever wondered about the organisation that goes into putting on the World Naked Bike Ride in London then you can wonder no more after watching this series of videos that start right here:
