All the bike news today still seems to be about he tube strike and how people have broken it by riding their bikes to work. Some websites checked out the traffic cams around London to see how many more cyclists were there and others just looked at the use of hire bikes and suggested that virtually everyone was using them to get around.
Never let it be said that FMFT is out of the loop, so we can exclusively bring you our experiences of the tube strike. To be perfectly honest I would have had trouble knowing there was anything wrong. I ride to work every day and did so again. All that was different was a lot of extra traffic on the roads and a larger number of suicidal pedestrians wandering across the road and not looking for filtering bikes.
Even when getting to work there was a slight increase in the number of bikes locked up (including a pet peeve of mine where someone ignores other empty racks to specifically lock their bike where my lock is waiting), and then the biggest inconvenience which was a few minutes’ wait for the shower.
All in all I’m happy that the tube is running again, but I’d probably cope if it wasn’t. Take that striking RMT and TSSA union members.
