It's a Money Thing

FMFT have been out into the posh parts of London to ensure that we’ve covered all the transport options available to the people of the city.

Next to the Rolls Royce dealer where you can buy a Bugatti Veyron in two tones of blue for the bargain price of about one and a half million Euros one of the new docking stations for the cycle hire scheme was being installed. There you’ll have the chance to ride a two-tone blue bike for half an hour for free. Essentially I think we’ve covered off the options there.

Mind you, the car might be the best option in this case as the Daily Mail is confidently and helpfully predicting that all the bikes will be stolen within something like seconds of them being released onto the streets. I like to think they are wrong, and that the bike scheme will work well, but we will see. There has also been some opposition to the placing of the stations where they might offend the same type of people who would consider driving the Veyron. Putting them opposite a private club clearly offends the people who want to visit the club. I guess it would remove a couple of parking spaces for your sports car, or mean your driver might have to go round the block a couple more times. Perhaps eventually they can learn to love them and shuttle about on the bikes from City office to private club, although that might damage the expensive gut they’ve been cultivating, and make it harder to have illicit affairs with secretaries.
