Everywhere you look this week people seem to be raising money by riding a bike. I don’t expect you’ve been able to ignore the story about Charlie Simpson who’s been in the studio with Lethal-Bizzle to put together a Fightstar track for a Jagermeister exclusive download.
In other Charlie Simpson news a seven-year-old has ridden round his local park and raised a phenomenal amount for the victims of the Haitian earthquake. This has been all over the news and I don’t imagine we’re breaking much ground here.
Perhaps Charlie will be hoping to also support Breast Cancer Campaign by taking part in their Pedal it Pink ride in March. However he’ll only be able to take part in the 5Km event (as he’s a boy) which will be not much of a challenge for such an endurance athlete, who I predict big things for, even with only a couple more months’ training.
Maybe he’ll be best aiming for something a bit more ambitious, perhaps along the lines of Fred Hatman, who’s riding from Durban to Capetown on a unicycle. That seems like more of a challenge worthy of Mr Simpson’s efforts.
Another exciting event I came across on the internet is Animals on Bikes which I hoped was another attempt to raise money for a worthy charity with a fun and challenging event, but turned out to be some sculptures instead. Not that I don’t think they brighten up the road in question, but it fitted so badly with the rest of the post.
