Britain and the World

With the Vuelta on a rest day there was a lot of focus on the next race of interest to people around here. Just in passing it’s been a case of the big names getting going as Quintana and Contador make moves that has put Froome 28 seconds adrift in fifth place so far. Quintana is holding the lead at a few seconds. The big news out of the Tour of Britain team is that there will be some seriously big sprinting names attending.

The remains of the teams will be announced today, but we already know Wiggins plans to try to defend his title as part of his build-up to the Worlds.

Talking of world championships the Downhill Circus has headed to Norway ready for this weekend’s action to decide who will wear the rainbow stripes for another year. The hot money has to be on the on-form Josh Bryceland and expect a big showdown between defending champion Rachel Atherton and Manon Carpenter.

Otherwise I think you’ll agree that this blog has been lacking some sick BMX action.
