Results and Yorkshire Tales

With the British Road Race Championships wrapped up with a Sky 1-2, as Peter Kennaugh took the win from Ben Swift, perhaps making up for him being left out of the Tour de France team. In other events Laura Trott took the women's race, while in Llangollen the downhill championships were decided as well with the Athertons winning both races.

Talking of Team Sky, the convenient Nationals results mean I can move neatly into the Sky Tour de France Team. The announcement wasn't all that surprising with the biggest news, that Wiggins would not be racing, having been well flagged up for weeks. The team looks pretty strong, with Froome heading up a squad including Thomas, Porte, Nieve, Eisel, Kiryienka, Lopez, Pate, and Zandio. With the race starting in under a week we'll soon get to see if Froome has it in him to win again or whether Contador's good form will come through and leave him floudering.

Mark Cavendish will be going to Yorkshire looking to win a yellow jersey on stage one, and Dave Millar will be racing the event for the last time, so there's plenty of British interest even with a Sly team that only has two British riders.

Sky also showed us what they can cram into the Jaguar Sportbrakes for the race.

In other news I headed out for a ride that was made painful by the impact of riding out of the light into dark woods in sunglasses and falling off, the effort of riding through the aftermath of two nights drinking and rampant growth from brambles and nettles. Still enough to make me smile and work really hard up the steep climbs to nail each of them through the pain.

Finally today it's a good idea to start the week with a video:
