Linking the Chain

Hello, I'm back after what feels like months, but was only a few days. What's been going on.

Well there was the Downhill World cup from the blisteringly fast bike park track at Leogang, giving some seriously exciting racing in a series that continues to be thrown wide open. Highlights from Red Bull here:

Both the men's and women's competitions are wider than in any recent year, and it's making it more exciting than ever.

Talking World Cup DH, the voice of the competition, Rob Warner, has opened a new café and shop in Soho that is aiming to cater for mountain bikers in the commuter and road bike wasteland that is London. It sounds well worth a look and I willreport back when I have had a chance to pop down into town. Also in central London it was the weekend for people to combine nudity and bikes to demonstrate against car culture with the World Naked Bike Ride. I missed it again by being in France watching an event that was, ironically, all about cars.

Central London also has bike news in the shape of a sponsor being required for the Boris Bikes. One solution could be this crowd-funded plan to make them all into animals. Watch this space I guess...
