Staying Together and Breaking Away

You can learn a lot from trawling the internet to find cycling stories. For example I was able to find out that while Daily Mail (or at least Mail Online) readers generally loathe and detest cyclists for reasons that must only have something to do with their own insecurities, they have some very clear rules. For example, a cyclist getting to work on the same roads that they are trying to drive is deserving of death threats and assumptions that legitimise road rage, but a couple taking two years of honeymoon to ride around the world is a wonderful thing in their eyes. I can so far find no comments suggesting that they ran red lights or hit someone's granny, or that they should be on whichever of the pavement or the road the commenter is not also using. Don't get me wrong, this is the Mail so someone had a dig at her weight. No-one's suggesting that the Mail comments are a nice place to hang out.

After all that time on the same bike I imagine (even if they are one of those sickening too-in-love couples) the idea of some time alone might have appealed to at least one of them. Luckily the perfect solution might have come courtesy of a Californian bike designer.

To finish today I was pleased to see that RedBull had come up with a challenge for the non-gravity riders amongst us, with their challenge over endurance races to win the right to wear a red jersey. Also, Cav has come to the fore with an answer to any critics he had in the pre-season this year, with a stage win on the Tirreno-Adriatico that might indicate he is in perfect form to win Milan San-Remo again at the weekend.
