London Matters

Well I've been very remiss this week and missed another day. To make up for it i'm taking the unprecedented step of giving you a whole two posts today.

First, to news. It might be a few months away but the build up to the Tour de France coming through London is well and truly on. Not only are TfL giving you all the information you might need, but also a limited number of 101 Boris Bikes are being released in yellow to celebrate the 101st Tour and promote it in London.

Talking of London I was (definitely) sent this by a “reader”.

Obviously I haven't investigated further but it seems to be screen shots from some sort of short film in which a young lady takes a taxi and can't pay for the fare. In exchange the driver offers the porn star young lady another option to cover he cost... Anyway what is far more interesting about this is the driver's comments about cyclists.

Through the excellent grammar it's clear he is unimpressed by the cyclist going past on the left of his car. Apparently he's clear on the law which is good for a part time taxi driver, when it is the subject of much debate in cycling forums. What's worse is that it's yet another place where it's seen as ok to do down cyclists. Did it need to be included in the film? I would argue in this case clearly not, so why is it there at all apart from to get a bit of a dig in. It's that sort of attitude that is keeping people off the road. There is another demographic (of porn-watchers) who now think it's ok to have negative feelings towards people on bikes.
