Bad Ideas and Good Ideas

I think there’s a fair chance that if your bike was stolen twelve years ago you may well have given up hope of getting it back. Hopefully you’ve already bought a new bike and moved on. However it seems all might not be lost and a man in Darlington was reunited with his bike after just that amount of time when the police recovered it amongst other stolen property in a raid.

I guess you should never give up hope, although what he is now going to do with his old GT if he has a new bike is anyone’s guess. It certainly won’t be worth what it was in 2002.

Talking of antisocial activities (like theft) there was news from trail building group SingletrAction that people have been modifying their work in Stainburn. This is a great shame and I fully support their argument that if you want to build on the trails they manage you need to come along as part of the volunteer groups and work within the plan for the trail, not take it upon yourself to destroy what has been created.

Finally today, in the battle to be seen on the roads there is a new cycling weapon in the shape of a bike from Mission Bikes that is entirely reflective in headlights. With a special paintjob this bike should be an extra chance for drivers to see a cyclists. Perhaps it’s a feature that will eventually be added to all commuter bikes.
