Connection

As much as the rise of bikes in popular culture is undoubtedly a major trend, nothing much can beat the rise of smartphones in every part of everyone's life.

It was never going to be long before the two things came together in something that was less of a bodge by someone developing a way to use both at the same time and more of an integrated development between two major players in each market.

Inevitably this has happened as Samsung and Trek have teamed up to produce a bike that will charge your phone and allow you to use Apps to record your rides as you go. There's no real news on how this will keep your phone from getting destroyed if you crash or if you get caught in the inevitable rain shower when you head out for your next ride, but it still seems like a good idea. I look forward to it becoming an after-market add-on so I can be aware that I can put it on my bike and choose to ignore it to keep bike-time as one of the few times in today's world when I am disconnected.
