Strava Strife

If it wasn’t enough that Strava was being blamed for cyclists’ deaths and for Lance Armstrong being able to compete and for everyone forgetting that they have any responsibility for their own actions, the Sunday Times is now going after it for celebrating speeding.

As the Bike Biz article mentions it’s all a bit irrelevant as speed limits do not (in theory at least) apply to cyclists, but it throws up the whole issue again. Just because something can measure your performance, does not make it responsible for people going beyond their ability.

More to the point I would like to see cyclists obeying the rules that actually apply to them and taking the wind from the sails of those people who like to moan about them. There’s nothing more irritating than having to keep overtaking someone between the lights as they sweep through on red each time.
