Data Streaming

Bikes have all sorts of uses around town, but I have to admit I’d never thought of them being used to track down badly secured wireless networks. This seems like the first step towards a mobile office and another slant on the whole idea of a bike blogger.

While on the subject of data networks and bikes the Tour of Britain reached Scotland yesterday. (Because the riders and bikes transmit all sorts of data to and from the bikes during a race… oh never mind…). Anyway, the stage featured more mountains (or as close to a mountain as the British Tour gets) but was once again all brought together by Sky for the third go at a lead-out for Mark Cavendish. This time Cav avoided crashes and being boxed-in and took the stage comfortably following a text-book lead-out by the whole of Team Sky.

There was also more behind the scenes news from FMFT’s new favourite neo-pro:

He took the smaller bed. You would, wouldn’t you.

From yesterday the Tour of Britain is being broadcast live on ITV4 as well as the highlights show in the evening.

While this happened on the roads Redbull released the first episode of the new Atherton Racing series Four by Three. The first instalment focusses on Rachel and her relationship with Fort William. Watch it here. I think it takes mountain bike film making to a whole new level with as much emotion as action and an insight into the feelings behind Rachel's attempt to win there.
