More Cycling Medals

In a massive shock the Vuelta had another summit finish yesterday. Fresh out of the time trial it was back to business as usual and, as usual, for this Tour the stage was won by Rodriguez. He and Contador got away from the other contenders to fight it out and the win means he keeps his red jersey. Froome couldn’t hold them this time and lost more time to the leading two, still hanging on to third place.

At least, perhaps, he can take comfort from knowing that if he stays with Sky he will be riding in Rapha kit. Making a million rich weekend cyclists happy as they can both keep their elite kit and support the British-based team.

Sticking with top-level sport, Britain won two medals on the first day in the velodrome at the Paralympics. Sarah Storey destroyed the competition in the C5 (least impaired) pursuit. Earlier in the day Mark Colbourne won silver in the C1-3 1KM time trial having only started in the sport in 2009 after a paragliding accident.

Hopefully there’s much more to come.

I have to say, however, I would love to see a bit of this included in the games:

Well, we’re into the weekend, there will be more Paralympics, more form the mountains of the Vuelta, and in case you thought I’d forgotten the world of Downhill, the World Championships in Leogang. Want a bit of a bluffer’s guide? Have a look at this from ChopMtb. It’s all live on RedBullTV if you have time with everything else.

Get yourself in the mood with a look at Peaty's special bike for the race:

Not getting excited yet. Here's that trailer for Four by Three:
