Watching Bikes with Red Bull

#empireofdirt

As summer tries its best to kick in there are some big weekends for bikes around. This last one was one such weekend.

Leaving aside great performances from Team Sky on the road in both Norway and Italy it was, for me at least, a very dirt based event weekend.

First up I Watched the UCI Cross Country Eliminator event from La Bresse on RedBullTV. I’ve never seen this style of short circuit racing before if I’m honest and I loved the punchy short laps and city course, making mountain bike cross country racing spectator friendly and fun.

Next it got a bit more extreme with the second gold event in the 2012 FMB tour, in Germany for the massive Berg Line Freeride event. Once again there were some huge lines, some insane tricks and with Sam Pilgrim leading the series, a definite British interest. Check it out here.

Finally I got to see some live extreme bike action at the Red Bull Empire of Dirt event which happened just down the road form me. The weather held for the finals and 16 of the best BMXers in the world attacked the massive course. It was won by Ben Wallace and with a superb location overlooking London and stunning riding all round it made for a superb event. Check out Red Bull’s highlights here and some pictures below
