Going Back and Going Forwrad

I’ve talked a lot recently about riding new routes, following directions and discovering new fun in areas you thought you knew. This is, of course, great, but what is even better is riding those routes again when you know the way.

I don’t know if this is true for everyone, but for me one trip round is enough on a shortish route to remember all the turns and change each downhill from a nervous slower careful drop checking the directions as you go to ensure you haven’t missed a turn you’ll have to climb back to, into a fast, full on rollercoaster where you know where to turn off. This makes it so much better, faster and fun and that was the theme of my long weekend; re-riding routes I now know and enjoying them even more than the first time round. This also means fewer stops, so it’s tougher, and also fewer pictures to share, I’m afraid, as I was too busy riding.

Otherwise, there was good trail centre news as plans for the Olympic Mountain Bike track after the games seem to be progressing, and bad news from Bristol where people riding in Ashton Court are being targeted by thieves. Hopefully the police action here will make a difference and this great riding area, right in a city will be safe again.

After that bit of bad news, and to make up for another break in transmission as I’m off to Germany for a few days, take a look at this trailer.

I'll be back on the 16th.
