Quick Catch-Up

It was an interesting few days off, with weather ranging from snow to spring sunshine and a bit of riding for me to report back about, but let’s start with a quick round-up of the news highlights I missed while I was away.

In south Wales another driver was convicted of using her vehicle as a weapon and attacking a cyclist with it. All because he dared to swear at her after she’s thrown a bottle from a car at her. Running the guy down was not an appropriate response and a jury unanimously agreed and sent her to prison. Once again feel free to enjoy the comments and notice how people attacking cyclists appear to be virtually illiterate.

In London, there were two bits of good news. Firstly, as the Telegraph puts it, the Queen was “amusing” about Boris Bikes. It’s nice to know she likes them. Also the go ahead for a mountain and road-bike centre on the Olympic park was announced. After the games this should mean a good replacement for the Eastway, and something slightly more exciting and accessible than Redbridge, if you’re in East London, at least.
