Ranting about Writing

Sometimes you have to wonder at what journalists have read or seen then they write about bike facilities. For example City AM have a short feature, which is almost certainly not just rewritten from a press release, about the Lordship Loop. It compares a video of an urban downhill in Chile from March to the new track and suggests that some “routes” might be too much for beginners. I mean, that’s all very well but there really is only one route on the new track, the clue being in the “Loop” title.

I also have an issue with the suggestions to go riding outside London which seem to somehow not take into account the best places and don’t really show what there is on offer in the UK. It’d be nice tohave an article written by someone who had at least seen the new track, or been mountain biking somewhere. Also, it’s an article (admittedly reprinted form the paper) on the Internet, so how hard would it have been to link to the Chilean video. Like this:

Talking of bad journalism I feel obliged to include a link form the Mail in the spirit of them featuring a Christmas tree made of bikes and it being nearly Christmas. Although I don’t like doing it.

PS. I was clearly so shocked I actually failed to include the link to the Mail. Here it is.
