Advertising and Filming

Media news for you today.

In a beautiful move which I can’t decide whether it’s a superb throwing toys out of the pram, or an inspired in-your-face to the cycling powers, Freecaster countered the UCI’s move to increase their charges for filming the Mountain Bike World Cup by pulling out and setting up their own downhill race series.

This could be interesting. It might mean that coverage of the World Cups is not as good as the excellent work Freecaster have been doing, although it does mean more mountain biking to watch on your computer. I guess it remains to be seen whether the new series proves popular with riders or viewers.

Continuing in a media vein, pressure from cycling groups in the States has led to General Motors withdrawing a print ad which was pretty anti-cycling.
