You might have noticed a bit of an obsession with small-wheeled bikes on here recently. This is because the general gloom of the winter is making it far easier to bung on jeans and a hoodie, ram your feet into some skate shoes and roll out for half-an-hour of playing and just being on a bike than it is to find a window of daylight and reasonable weather to go for a “proper” ride.
While we might just be opening ourselves up to questions like this one posted on the Cycleexperts forum, it has to be said that the extra riding, and the challenges of messing around on a BMX are having an unerringly positive effect on our riding. There are things that you can do and learn, and tricks that it’s worth pulling, and then making bigger and better that will transfer to both mountain bikes and (perhaps to a slightly lesser extent) road bikes. We will hit the real trails in the summer fitter, more confident, and stronger than ever, and this is a good thing.
On that note, and if you missed it over the weekend, check out the superb street-style and skate-park riding from the Simpel Session right here:
