With our finger always on the button of cycling we entirely missed the Bicycle Film Festival in London which ended yesterday. Perhaps next year we’ll actually remember and not only let you know about it, but also go ourselves.
What there probably wasn’t a film about, but we wish there had been, was the recent challenge attempt made by two guys in order to raise money for charity. With none of your boring riding 10k round a park, they clearly decided the future was in riding 64 miles underwater. How they decided on this should surely be the focus of the film, but we at FMFT applaud them anyway.
Talking of unusual bikes, we were walking in one of the more middle-class areas of North London when we were passed by what must be the ultimate Guardian-reading, recycling, independently educated bike ever. This wasn’t just a tandem, which, in itself, possibly shouts that you’re trying too hard, but a Thorn triplet, with the entire family on board. Ok, I admit it, a part of me was just jealous, it was certainly one of those bikes that makes you look twice (or three times) and that’s something to get excited about.
