Make Your Own Tour

With only a couple days of the Tour de France left to go you might be missing the fabulous scenery and the endless tortured bodies dragging themselves around the country. Don’t worry there’s good news, as ever, more and more bikes are being taken on the Eurostar so there’s an opportunity to take yours along with them, get a group together and set off for several thousand miles around France.

This means that the race can never end, just be sure to take a helicopter for those crucial aerial shots as you wind along the mountain passes and, of course, a cheap camcorder to record those late night apologies to your opponents when you feel you might have overstepped the unwritten laws of the race. Bear in mind that recording something in a cheap hotel room will make it all better and ensure that your conscience is clear if you win the race.

Once you’ve completed the course you can have the eternal armchair-sportsman’s fun with statistics. Hopefully you can com up with something as good and in depth as these charts on the history of the Tour de France, which conclusively demonstrates all sorts of crucial things including the decline of flat caps against the growth of sponsors jerseys.
